Faith Healey Psychotherapy

Faith Healey, LCSW

I provide individual psychotherapy to adults in Maine. My approach is psychodynamic, relational, and client-centered. This means I value our relationship, your unique expression of being, and exploring unconscious forces that may be playing a role in directing your life in ways unbeknownst to you.

our work together

My perspective is influenced by the love-filled work of Carl Rogers and the oceanic depth of Carl Jung. The foundation of my perspective is further informed by tenets of existential psychology including the medicinal properties of authenticity and living in alignment with personal values.I believe in the healing power of creative expression, fiction reading, journaling, movement-based practices, meditation, and nature immersion and encourage the incorporation of as many of these experiences into one’s life as possible. My aim is to cultivate a space where you feel understood on a deep and true level so we can together pave a way forward toward a life with more peace, joy, and authenticity.I am focused on understanding you deeply and whole-heartedly.Throughout our work together, I will gently reflect back to you the observations and insights gleaned. The process of uncovering what may be at the root of what you are experiencing is a collaborative process. The level of depth we excavate is determined by your willingness.

(Re)connect to self

One conceptualization to understanding mental and emotional distress is that stemming from a fragmentation of self. In other words, somewhere along the way we have become disconnected to our true and authentic self. The path of healing can then be understood as a path toward wholeness where we can gradually reunite with who we are on the DEEPEST and TRUEST level. It is here where we are free from comparisons to others, fear of the future, and regret from the past. It is a journey and not a destination. Psychotherapy is one way to orient yourself to this path.Your capacity to heal is shaped by your willingness to do so.To begin the path of healing starts with a decision. It is a gesture of profound self-love and one that warrants immense recognition. To begin to face the emotional pain that you have been experiencing takes courage and strength. Do not underestimate the fortitude it takes to reach out for support. Beginning psychotherapy is way to begin a new relationship with yourself and has the potential to transform your entire life (if you so desire)."I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become."
~Carl Jung

new beginnings ♡

Feelings of disconnection, apathy, emptiness, sadness, anxiety, depression, loneliness, boredom, and overwhelm can be understood as clues from our deeper selves that something in our lives is in need of attention. Psychotherapy is one way to bring tending to areas in need. I value connection, compassion, and truth and strive to bring these qualities into our space together. My aim is to support you to develop a loving and accepting relationship with yourself through insight-building and the reparative work of tending to the wounds from your past. From a position of self-compassion and acceptance, comes the development of clarity and the space for healing and love.
